Matcha Green Tea Banana Bread - Gluten Free!

This flavorsome Matcha Green Tea Banana bread is perfect for quick breakfast on the go or as a delicious and nutritious 'pick me up' snack during the day. The best thing about this banana bread is that even though it's healthy it still tastes like a sweet, moreish treat.

I've previously written a post about the benefits of matcha green tea which I absolutely love and drink every day. Since I know not everyone is into the taste of matcha green tea I thought I would experiment with adding it to banana bread. The result is a very sweet, moist and delicious banana bread with a very light hint of green tea taste.

Gluten Free Banana Bread Recipe with Matcha Green Tea



  • 50g cashew nuts
  • 20g hazelnuts
  • 80g oats in food processor
  • 2 tablespoons cacao nibs*
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon cold pressed virgin coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon matcha powder*
  • 4 very ripe bananas (or three big ones)
  • 3 tablespoons coconut sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 50g gluten free flour ( you can use normal flour if you don't have a gluten intolerance)
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder


  1. Put on your cute apron
  2. Preheat the oven to 180°
  3. Add the nuts and oats to a food processor and process until they are very fine.
  4. Add the rest of the ingredients and process until they make a smooth batter ( it will be slightly green in color due to the matcha green tea)
  5. Add the mixture to a baking tray and bake for about 35-40 minutes or until a fork inserted into the center comes out clean.

This Banana Bread is absolutely delicious served with a little drizzle of honey or topped with some peanut butter and fresh banana slices. It's absolutely delicious and the added matcha powder will give you a little boost of energy. I hope you enjoy this recipe and if you make it please let me know what you think!
